About this audiobook
When the shotgun-blasted body of a goose hunter is discovered, the police believe they have a list of suspects who may have wanted the victim dead, from his young wife to the caretaker of his property. But then a second body, another hunter, is found with a similar fatal wound. And then a third. As the pattern emerges—all goose hunters, all shot at the break of dawn—Reykjavik policemen Gunnar and Birkir face the terrifying possibility that a serial killer is stalking the idyllic Icelandic countryside.
Gunnar and Birkir set a trap for the one they call “the Gander,” but it quickly becomes a wild goose chase as the murderer plays some tricks of his own. With the clock running out and the discovery of another body all but guaranteed, the cops must determine if there is a thread connecting the victims or if the killings are all part of a twisted game.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The setting and writing were nice. The "who done it" part just didn't work for me though. Listened to the audio version which was well done. ( For me, when there are so many foreign names it is nice to hear the way they are supposed to be pronounced. )
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I read this while en route to Iceland, which was a stopover as I headed to Norway. It was an interesting read, but I did not think it was as good as other titles by this author. Nonetheless, if you are a fan of Scandinavian crime thrillers, this is well worth your time.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I don't know, and have often wondered about translations, if the problem was with the original or the translation or just a feeling of the original language but the narration seemed forced and unnatural at times. (If the writing is particularly good I have the same questions as I am reading.) The plot and characters were OK but not remarkable, nobody I wanted to know more about.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Confession. (a Mike Daley novel). Sheldon Siegel. 2004. A kindle trash novel in which a priest accused of murder is defended by his lawyer friend an ex-priest. There are not many surprises in the plot. It becomes obvious soon who the villains will be, but the side story of Mike Daley leaving the priesthood and his marriage and divorce to his partner is interesting enough to keep me on the treadmill reading the entire book.
