About this audiobook

Practicing law has never been so deadly.

Hotshot Stanford law professor Jack Strider is speeding along the fast track to serve on the Supreme Court until a bullet and a nasty, front-page family scandal shatter that ambition. After he's unjustly fired from the law school faculty, a powerhouse law firm run by a former Secretary of State offers Jack a job and a chance for redemption.

His first assignment: Do whatever it takes to defend a sleazy corporate client in Juarez, Mexico, the "Murder Capital of the World." Soon, Jack realizes that if he can't stop his client, millions of people on both sides of the border will be poisoned. Plunged into the violence of the Texas-Mexican borderlands, Jack discovers that he can trust no one, not even the law firm he works for, so when attorney Debra Vanderberg is sent to assist Jack, he doesn't know whether she's an ally or a spy. He has no choice but to trust her and pray he isn't wrong.

Racing against the clock and dodging bullets, Jack and Debra uncover corporate greed and political corruption that lead all the way from a sacred cave in the Mexican mountains to the Oval Office. When the President of the United States refuses to stop the impending catastrophes, Jack risks everything, including his life. But can he learn the "ground truth" fast enough to save the millions destined to die?

Rob Sangster Website - www.robsangster.com Chased by a Cape Buffalo in Botswana and then by a corrupt governor in Tennessee. Abducted by a black market money changer in Mombasa. Spent one New Years Eve in Paradise Bay, Antarctica; another in the Himalayas. And throw in swimming with Humpback whales, spending the night on top of a Mayan temple in Tikal, Guatemala, and traveling in seven continents and more than 100 countries - all of which were more important to him than earning the last possible dollar. And that attitude led inevitably to . . . becoming a writer. Rob's first novel, Ground Truth, will soon be followed by an adventure with a wildly different plot featuring three of the same key players. Now living half of each year on the coast of Nova Scotia, his curiosity about the far corners of the world remains undiminished, but he's hooked on fiction.

I did not like the narrator’s voice changes or accents. I did like that some things were left unsaid. I did get bogged down in some of the details - although the nuclear waste and aquafir discussions were interesting. I appreciate the social/civic aspects although there was a great deal of cynicism - that unfortunately plays into today's narrative. I thought that Mac and Anna Maria were sacrificed kind of needlessly.
