About this audiobook
A Wall Street Journal bestselling series.
An explosive conspiracy sets the ocean roiling for a deep-diving investigator in a riveting thriller by the author of the Amazon Charts bestseller The Girl Beneath the Sea.
A distress call draws rescuers Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that’s sinking from a mysterious explosion. When it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and other ships are threatened, it becomes a race against time. More clues are discovered, and evidence is in danger of being washed away by a coming tropical storm. Sloan grows concerned that key details are being ignored, and a strange lack of urgency by authorities sets off alarms.
As the troubling questions compound, Sloan is determined to chase down every lead she has. Her persistence is getting her closer to the truth: that there’s something far more troubling at play than the official explanation. It’s also putting Sloan on a collision course with an enemy more powerful than she realizes, in a case so complex and deadly it may be impossible to prove. Now cracking the case is a matter of staying one step ahead of someone with every resource imaginable to bury Sloan and everything she knows.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another good entry in this lively and entertaining series as our heroes take on a billionaire mogul.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/51) If you are going to smuggle a bunch of doodads that look like R2D2, then put them in a box labeled R2D2 and call FedEx. 2) if you are going to smuggle something on a ship, put it in the cargo hold so you can wheel it out onto the dock. 3) If you are going to smuggle something on a ship and have it welded into a bulkhead, devise a plan to retrieve it that does not involve blowing up the ship. 4) If you are an author writing a story about producing and transporting something illegal but almost undetectable and you explain exactly how to smuggle the almost undetectable product, provide a plausible reason for smuggling the doodad that makes the product rather than the product itself.I received a review copy of "Sea Storm" by Andrew Mayne from Thomas and Mercer through NetGalley.com.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Andrew Mayne certainly knows how to write a compelling thriller, and I really enjoy this Underwater Investigation Unit series. The underwater scenes are so vivid that I felt as though I were swimming alongside Sloan as she dodged pursuers and raced to bring a James Bond-like villain to justice. Sloan McPherson is definitely the star of this show. The McPherson clan is filled with scallywags and pirates which means that sometimes all she has to do is ask a relative to get information on a lead she's developing. She has phenomenal instincts and an amazing knack for putting clues together which the other members of her team are learning to rely on more and more. The dashes of humor throughout Sea Storm are usually at her expense but in the spirit of camaraderie which readers will have a greater appreciation of if they've read the other two books in the series. I have read those other two books (The Girl Beneath the Sea and Black Coral), and one of the things I like the most is Sloan's character development. Sloan is growing up as the series progresses. She's learning to control her impulsiveness as well as to rely on her own opinions rather than looking for validation from men.A main character with a distinctive (and addictive) voice, thrilling underwater scenes, and a compelling mystery all mean that, once again, I'm looking forward to Sloan McPherson's next adventure. Bring it on!(Review copy courtesy of the publisher and Net Galley)
