About this audiobook
From award-winning author Rachel Lacey comes a playful romance about a Manhattan bookstore owner and a reclusive author who love to hate—and hate to love—each other.
Books are Rosie Taft’s life. And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet. She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author?
Jane Breslin works hard to keep her professional and personal lives neatly separated. By day, she works for the family property development business. By night, she puts her steamier side on paper under her pen name: Brie. Jane hasn’t had much luck with her own love life, but her online connection with a loyal reader makes Jane wonder if she could be the one.
When Rosie learns that her bookstore’s lease has been terminated by Jane’s family’s business, romance moves to the back burner. Even though they’re at odds, there’s no denying the sparks that fly every time they’re together. When their online identities are revealed, will Jane be able to write her way to a happy ending, or is Rosie’s heart a closed book?

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a beautiful and enjoyable book with lovable characters, good twists and turns, and a lovely queer romance. The narration by Abby Craden is highly praised and adds to the enjoyment of the story. Some readers felt that the character Rosie was unfair and immature in her actions, but overall, the book is described as comfy, cute, and a real joy to listen to.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed this very much. Rosie, the bookstore owner and Jane, the author whose company was going to tear down the building and leave Rosie having to find a new location. Lots of angst, anger and making up.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was excited for the book as it was my first lesbian romance but it was pretty bad. The story was too convoluted and a lot of drama was forced. The only character who tried to do everything right was blamed by the writer seemingly for existing. And I find it almost admirable that you can write about a dog on every other page and the readers still have no idea what breed he is.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Perfect in every way! Just might have to listen again!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The story had it's moments and I always enjoy narration by Abby Craden. I felt bad for Jane because she kept having to apologize for something that wasn't her fault. Still it was an enjoyable book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Beautiful read! I missed finding books with good building and writing that make me feel excited for every scene!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Novel was really comfy and cute. A real joy to listen to but Rosy was being unfair to Jane blaming her for the other peoples behaviour and immature to lose a good leave even with a bad landlord at sutch a tough situation? She could have at least waited until she found a different space. Loved the social aspect too. Related to gane not being very sociable
