- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Rapunzel was about a young girl that was trapped in a tower in the castle by an evil witch until a Prince was riding through the forest and he heard her singing and feel in love. He visited Rapunzel everyday until the witch found out and cut off Rapunzel's braid so the prince could no longer climb up to visit her. It was years before the prince and her saw each other again and once they found each other they lived happily ever after. I thought this story was very interesting but did not have a moral or lesson in it. It was a traditional story that was engaging to children but it was did not teach them any morals. It almost taught children to go with the first man they meet and that is they way to get a 'good' life. I also didn't really enjoy the illustrations of this book. They were colorful but they did not add anything to the story or the plot.Overall, I felt that this story was a good traditional story but the lessons and the illustrations could use some work in order to make the, better stories.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The text is very close to the original Grimms' text, but the inventive illustrations are what make this story. From the little frog that rides on the witch's dress made of lettuce leaves to the snail shaped bed in Rapunzel's tower room to the expressive stuffed animals, there's much fun to be had from close examination. Bell and Duntze don't shy away from including the harder parts of the tale including Rapunzel's unplanned pregnancy.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A childless family lives next to a garden which belongs to a witch. When the woman gets pregnant, she notices rapunzel plants in the garden and asks his husband to go to the garden and bring some for her. The third time that the man breaks to the garden is caught by the witch and promise to give the baby to the witch. Imprisoned for years in a tower, the young girl, called Rapunzel, meets the prince and marries him. She gives birth to twins and cures the prince whose eyes have got blind when escaping from the witch. Like the most of fairy tales the story characters are the poor people, witch, prince, marriage, and happy ending. The book is well illustrated and reinforces the setting.
