What our readers think
Readers find this title to be relatable, inspiring, and thought-provoking. It addresses topics such as trauma, healing, and forgiveness, while reframing the Proverbs 31 woman. The author's down-to-earth approach and personal experiences make the book feel genuine. Although some reviewers felt that the title was sensationalized and didn't fully tackle struggles with the Christian faith, they still appreciated the author's story and found it to be a good starting point for those questioning their faith. Overall, this book is recommended for millennial Christians looking for inspiration and a sense of community.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I felt like this book was written for me. I was feeling distant from God for the better part of the last year, and this helped me realize the grace God has already bestowed on me, and that He is waiting for me to seek Him, with open arms.
Every millennial Christian who grew up in purity culture or legalistic Christianity needs to listen to or read this book. She talks about trauma, healing, coming back to Christ, purity culture of the 2000s, friendships and friendship breakups, forgiveness, confidence in who God made us to be, and totally reframes the Proverbs 31 woman. And so much more. Written by an unapologetic woman around my age, every chapter made me feel less alone and so inspired to live for Jesus again.
Inspiring book, I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Down to earth truth. Blake is real and relatable. She truly practices what she preaches and speaks truth in love.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The book title of this book is kind of over sansationalised, which I wasn't surprised at, but neither does it really tackle struggles with the Christian faith or talk about things which are necessarily taboo. There are some good points raised around different topics but it ultimately feels like conservative evangelicalism, repackaged for the Instagram generation with added clickbait appeal. The book dabbles with exploration and questioning of church teachings on certain things but concludes with a call to accepting biblical truth, something which is the basis of all the things she is beginning to challenge, which leaves you feeling a little confused. That said the book evidently isn't aimed at my demographic, so I probably shouldn't complain. We are all on our own journeys though and I appreciated Blake sharing her story and experiences and is a good place to start for those who are questioning their faith.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing. Downright Awesome. A much read for all crappy Christians. Amen!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An authentic view of Christianity for those who refuse to wear a mask or live behind a facade.
