아마도 사람들은 항상 두려워했던 어둠을 까막나라로 표현하고 싶었나 봐요. 아주 오랜 옛날에 사람들은 사나운 맹수들의 공격을 피해 동굴에서 살기도 했어요. 캄캄한 동굴에서 생활 하는 것은 몹시 불편했어요. 그러다가 우연히 불을 발견하게 되었어요. 그리고 빛이 있어야 제대로 된 생활이 가능하다는 것을 깨달았지요. 그래서 어느 나라든 세상이 처음 생긴 이야기에는 <까막나라 불개>처럼 빛을 구하는 이야기가 따라다닌답니다.
