I don’t think the book itself was that well written but the audiobook version didn’t make up for it really. It helped to finally get my head around how random it was for it to be set in the USA considering all the writing and grammar was British but then the attempt at British accents for Ash and Ramsey lost me again. If this book was better, it might have been tolerable though! The narrator did try. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

Really enjoyed this book and found it a real page-turner. Some parts there were sections of too much explanation or repeating the same thing to another character, slowing the pace, but overall fast exhilarating book with great plot points throughout. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This was a wild journey but a good one. There was so much happening - some drama, family secrets, suspenseful moments, some thriller elements... Like I said, a lot! - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5

Better writing and more realistic plot. Characters weren’t very likeable and it was just a bit far fetched. Yes it was an easy read and plot-twisty but it was also frustrating and unrealistic. Also didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and the writing was a tad lazy at times. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

Bel Price is eighteen. She's lived under the shadow of her mother's disappearance since she was two. She was the only one there when her mother was taken from their car on a quiet rural road. She must have seen the kidnapper but is too young to remember anything.
Now, her father has agreed for the family to take part in a documentary exploring the disappearance. Bel just wants it to go away. She's built her life with her father, aunt, uncle, grandfather, and beloved cousin Carter. She's also developed a fear of being abandoned and a kleptomania problem. She pushes people away before they can leave her.
Things change abruptly when Rachel Price comes back with an outrageous story about where she has been for the past sixteen years. Now, the documentary has gone from being the Disappearance of Rachel Price to the Reappearance of Rachel Price. Bel doesn't know what to think. Rachel's story has some holes in it and Bel is determined to prove her a liar so that her life can go back to her comfortable normal.
With the assistance of a young member of the documentary crew, Bel determines to find out the truth which isn't at all what she thought it was.
This story was engaging and twisty and compelling. I spent most of it wondering if Bel was a reliable narrator telling us the truth. Or was she gaslighting us or being gaslighted herself. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

This is more a 3.5 star book. I don't know if I was happy with the way the book ended. I felt like it could have just been more. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

Sixteen years ago, Rachel Price disappeared, leaving her toddler in her car. Her family consents to a documentary about the case in order to get money to take care of an elderly relative with dementia. But, while the documentary is being filmed, Rachel Price reappears. Her daughter is suspicious; they were doing fine without her. A rather gothic plot unfolds. I see why people liked it, but I don’t think this is the variety of thriller for me. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5
