His parents are Chief and Mrs. George and Theresa Okoli of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, Nigeria. Dr. Okoli had his primary education at ST. Joseph’s Catholic School Aguleri, Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended Odu-Abore Memorial School, Mushin Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Okoli obtained his Higher Diploma in Mass Communication at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, Nigeria. He obtained his Masters degree in Social Work at Howard University, Washington DC, USA; and got his doctoral degree in Human Services at Walden University Minnesota, USA.
In the 1970s, Dr. Okoli was a prolific writer and a columnist. He wrote many articles in Nigerian newspapers, especially the “Nigerian Outlook.” He was also a radio commentary writer for the then ECBS (East Central State Broadcasting Service), and Radio Nigeria Enugu. He worked as a foreign desk editor for the ATV (Anambra Television) Enugu between 1984 and 1989, before proceeding to the United States for further studies.view less
