She was born and raised in Sydney's inner-west and spent much of the 1970s in what she now describes as suburban hell. Streetwise was something she attained along the way, looking back she thinks it helped in her long-term survival. Sydney is where her heart belongs and she travels there often to be with her daughter and granddaughter.
Marcia became a grandmother at age 49, it wasn't a title she was ready for, but 'Boopy' came into her life and stole her heart. Marcia's mother was right; there is nothing on Earth like a grandchild's love. Only a grandparent can know this.
Marcia is a traveller at heart. She just has to learn how to pack less, her husband would agree. In another life she'd be David Attenborough, or a National Geographic Photographer, or a nomad, all three, she is sure, would travel lighter.
There is something to be said for grown-up love. Marcia only learned this later in life during her second marriage. The downside, it comes with a shitload of baggage and that is one thing you really can't plan for. Just as well she hasn't lost her sense of humour.
Marcia is working on her second book, Every Fabulous Thing. She hopes it won't take long, but given her history shit is bound to happen...
For people who don't know her, Marcia is pronounced Mar-C-a, not Marsha, as in The Brady Bunch. Her friends call her Marce, or Marcy, or Moo. She'll answer to most names except Marsha.view less
