She received her doctorate in theology from the College for Global Deployment in Vancouver, Washington, and her master’s degrees in social work from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, in 1995.
Dr. Zimmerman and her husband, Bill, were married for thirty-seven years until his death in 2012. They reared four children with great joy and a spirit of adventure.view less
