Nassaar is a distinguished Oscar Wilde scholar and Ivy League author. He was educated at the University of Sussex and the University of Wisconsin–Madison (PhD) and is currently a professor of English literature and cultural studies at the American University of Beirut. His book Into the Demon Universe (Yale UP, 1974) was considered a breakthrough in Wilde studies and is today regarded as the cornerstone of modern Oscar Wilde studies. He has also published three study guides in Longman’s York Series; three Victorian anthologies; and a Wildean novel, Earnest Revisited, in addition to over fifty academic articles. In the present book, he turns his attention to the thorny question of the clash between science and religion.view less
