He contributed fourteen stories between 1930 and 1934, including the round-robin “Hot Shot” with nine other authors. He was absent from Railroad Stories for six years, returning in 1940 with “Orders at Canyon.” He was a steady until “Night Run” was published in the January 1945 issue.John Johns byline would remain absent from the magazine for nearly three decades, until two final stories — “On a Fogbound Night” and “The Thousand-Miler” — were published in 1974.view less
