She is Emerita Distinguished Professor of Discourse Studies at Lancaster University, UK, and affiliated to the University of Vienna. She is a member of both the Academia Europaea and the British Academy of Social Sciences; and was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2011, and the Kerstin Hesslgren Chair of the Swedish Parliament at University of Örebro in 2008. She was awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Örebro in 2010 and by Warwick University in 2020. She is co-editor of the journals Discourse and Society, Critical Discourse Studies, and Language and Politics. Her most recent monograph is The Politics of Fear: The Shameless Normalization of Far-Right Discourse (2021).view less
