He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Air Medal with nine oak-leaf clusters, four combat ribbons, and the French Croix de Guerre. After the war he pursued a career as a newspaper editor and later became Executive Assistant to Cleveland Mayor George Voinovich. He retired in 1990 to Sarasota, Florida, and passed away on January 21, 1998.view less
