She was a close friend of Norman Douglas whom she had met while living on Capri in 1918. She lived in the wake of her husband’s enthusiasms for island living. An accomplished pianist and gardener, she was the author of music criticism, several biographies, a collection of short stories, and two novels. Tatting was her last work, based on the first months of her marriage.view less
