Chapter 1: At the hotel bar after 11p.m.

The hotel bar, often with visiting married male traveling executives with or without their wedding bands, tends to be a common meeting place.

#1: I was away from the office for four days. I had a meeting in Atlanta. I was staying at the Four Seasons Atlanta. I went down to the bar each evening after 10 o'clock to mingle. I was extremely alone in my room.

One evening I saw a 48-ish year-old gentleman without a ring on his finger. After a few drinks he invited me to his room. We had amazing sex. I got his cell number. I got his business card. I Googled him. His pic came up in a real estate article about him and his wife buying foreclosures in Miami. Turns out he's a heart surgeon who was keynote speaker at a cardiology conference in Atlanta. Who knew? Have I continued to correspond with him? Yes. Have we met up since then? Yes. Will I ever break up with him? Not likely. If he ever left his wife would I ever pursue him? Definitely.

#2: In Las Vegas, in particular, with a convention virtually every single day, the late night bar scene is packed with married folks looking to get naughty. Do I have time to ask who is single, divorced, separated or engaged? Too much trouble and not realistic.
