About this ebook

Burdened by Grief, She Hunts a Killer

They never found her sister's body, but Detective Rebecca Montgomery knows her murderer is still out there. In the five months since Danielle went missing, there have been two more brutal abductions. A savage menace stalks the women of San Antonio, and the relentless detective will do anything to find him.

And a Seductive Stranger Shadows Her Every Move

But her latest case—the discovery of a young woman's remains inside the wall of a burned-down theater—plunges Rebecca from her grief into a brand-new nightmare. She soon meets handsome, mysterious Diego Galvan at the crime scene, and his shadowy connections will lead to her first break in both cases. But when Rebecca submits to his considerable powers of seduction, she will leave herself vulnerable to a merciless killer . . . and when he attacks, no one will hear her scream.

Suspense authors seem to do romance well. Romance authors fail at suspense time and again. I pulled this book off my shelf because someone requested it on my book swap - and I realized I'd received it free (from the author/publisher??), but had never read it. Turns out, I hadn't missed anything. My biggest pet peeves about this one? The author's constant referral to an "Hispanic" accent? What in the heck is that? Do I need to move to San Antonio Texas to find out? My second pet peeve were the pages featuring degrading sex, rape, and torture. Normally, I'm not too squeamish about those things, but right next to (or separated by a few pages) 'love' scenes between the protagonists made my stomach hurt. Want suspense - read suspense. Want romance - read romance. Here, the two don't play well together.

One thing that attracted me to this novel is the fact that heroine is in law enforcement. Finally, there is a romantic suspense novel in which the heroine is a strong woman and not someone waiting to be rescued. Another plus is that Dane takes the time to explain some legal terms for those readers who may not understand them. As it is very detailed, it took me a while to read it, but that is a plus as it made it worth the price I paid for the book.

Rebecca (Becca) Montgomery is a police officer at the San Antonio Police Department. Her sister, Danielle, has been missing for the past seven years and presumed dead, by both Becca and her mother. Their lives are torn apart and the disappearance has haunted Becca every day since and possibly putting her job on the line, as she seeks justice for her sister. When a fire breaks out at an old theatre and the skeletal remains of what is believed to be that of a young woman show up, Becca is put on the case. Was the fire set to cover up the bones and if so, why after all of this time?Diego Galvan, a dark mysterious stranger appear, before Becca. He seems to know several things about her, even down to her coffee preference. Becca wonders who this dangerous looking man is and if he is out to harm or help her. She soon finds out that Diego is working for one of the most feared mob bosses, Cavanaugh. Becca has a feeling that Cavanaugh is the one responsible for the remains of the dead girl. She begins to ask questions - questions that may put both her and Diego’s lives in danger.Things are not always as they appear, however, nor are people who they appear to be. No One Heard Her Scream delves into the most heinous of crimes imaginable. As I started reading this, I was reminded a bit of Wendy Corsi Staub’s writing. I think that anyone who enjoys her style of writing will also enjoy Jordan Dane’s. This was a hard to put down book, from beginning to end. A roller coaster ride of suspense, twists and turns, with a dash of romance. A small warning, however - there are a couple of graphically disturbing sexual scenes within the story. They all are relevant to the story, but can easily be skipped over if one wishes.Jordan Dane has two upcoming release: No One Left To Tell, which comes out in May and No One Lives Forever, which will be released in June. I am anxious to read both of these. This wonderful debut, lends great promise to a talented writer who I am sure has a very bright future ahead of her!

This was a wonderful read. Suspense, and romance is possible in one story, and you will get it here. The characters are not only believable but compelling. Becca, a homicide detective has a sister who has gone missing. This tragedy in has affected her career and every aspect of her life. When an opportunity arises for her to investigate a case regarding remains found in her own hometown, she puts every effort into resolving another family’s tragic loss. In doing so, she begins to find her own strength and is able to confront and accept her own vulnerability. A book is only as good as its ending, in my opinion. This book has an amazing ending. All of the loose ends are tied up. All situations are resolved. This is a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and involved in every chapter. The ending is an even bigger payoff.
