About this ebook
This is a poetry compilation of 75 poems written over a period of time from childhood to young adult. These poems are compiled in no particular order but the progression of maturity in the content and style of each poem clearly identifies relative age and mentality when written. Thru the eyes of a child and then thru the eyes as that child ages.
Angelique LaFontaine
My name is Angelique LaFontaine. I was born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and live in the country about an hour outside of Dallas, TX. I am employed as a Mechanical Engineer but spend much of my time painting and writing I have been building my work collection for the last 15 years and it includes paintings, sketches, poetry compilations, novels, digital short stories and much more. I do not limit my writing to one specific genre but I tend to lean more toward fiction fantasy. I love the idea of not having boundaries when writing. If you can think it, in my story, it could happen. In 2008, I released my first poetry compilation. This collection was entitled Walking Before You Run. It is a collection of 75 poems that I've written over the years. In 2010 I released Sandstone and Mirrors: The Crossover. I have many more books and short stories that I am preparing to release. Besides writing, I love to paint and sketch. I enjoy working with acrylic mainly but from time to time, work with other mediums. Currently my work is being displayed in the Little Elm Library in Little Elm TX. It has been rotated throughout different locations in the Dallas area. Please see my website at www.AngeliqueArtWork.com for any updates.

Walking Before You Run - Angelique LaFontaine
The hunted
As the hunter stalked on, beyond the boy, he scanned the
perimeter all around him.
Continuing on, the boy sighed in relief. Trembling with fright,
He sat in the tree for what seemed an eternity. Thinking hard and trying to determine a master plan to outwit the barbaric sportsman.
Carefully lowering himself from the safety of the tree, he
scampered through the thick brush. Completely oblivious to
Everything around him, he ran in blind fear.
Not knowing where he was going nor how he would get back, the young boy
Ran right off a cliff, plunging to his doom into a rocky grave at the bottom
Desertion of the living
Let go of my hand, and let me fly
Away from your heart, and into the sky
Forget my face, know nothing of me
Walk away, and set me free
I want to leave, I know the way
Gone from the past, away from today
Deserting my love, I’ve had so long
Honestly believing, it is finally gone
The perfect tear, rolls down my cheek
Closing my mouth, and refusing to speak
For what I might say, I might regret
And try so hard, to soon forget
Leave me be, if you dare
To fly with the wind, in the cold night air
I will haunt your dreams, and steal your heart
Frightening your soul, never to part
Close your eyes, and you will see
The reflection and shadow, of what I used to be
Dreamscape
She loses herself in the novel,
Slumbering throughout the day to
Come out and frolic in the night,
Like the lush colors of purple
Or dark green,
So are the arrays of deep hues
On the Mexican terrain
Where she stands, indecisive on
Which choice of path to follow for her life
Like the notes of music that flitter
Across the sky
Eternal answers
I look around and my head just spins, my eyes are closed so
Tight
Not wanting to be hurt by the one I love, running through the dark by moon light
The whispered voices going through my mind, the words are so unclear
They say many things that I don’t understand, causing all of my fear
Leave me alone; take nothing from me, so my life will not be lost
The answers to life and death can be found, but come with an eternal cost
What I don’t know, please leave it that way, some stones
Should be left unturned
The people in the past, who didn’t wait, had their hearts torn out and burned
I am not afraid to die, but keep this in mind, I want my glory and pride
But to seek the answers, will take it away, with an
unfortunate suicide
Whatever you need, you will find in time, when it is finally
Right
It will light up the sky with such beauty and grace, clearing
Up the darkest night
