Chapter One

Time seems to go on forever when you are watching for the clock hands to turn to a number that you’ve been waiting for. At least Sophia felt that way, sitting in her office, signing the documents piled in front of her, and trying to ignore those atrocious hands. Normally, she liked this job. Normally, she felt like there wasn’t enough time to keep performing. When the clock would hit five, Sophia would pretend not to notice, finishing up the paper stacks until they were obsolete. She became the joke around the office.
