Well apparently the same is true for Bangkok. A group of backpackers stumble upon each other in the chaos, and needing the familiarity of English, they get together for drinks and some dinner. Of course, eight young people in the prime of both sexual and other appetites, it doesn’t take much suggestion to get them all playing a rather physical game. The problem with getting all hot and horizontal with complete strangers is that you end up with a lot of unanswered questions, the kind that can only be answered by getting hot and horizontal again, and again! By the time the group leaves Bangkok, there is no doubt that whoever each of them happens to sleep with next will be in for the ride of their lives, having at their fingertips the sum of eight sexual explorations that culminated in a four-day lesson in multiple orgasms.

Chapter One

The rain fell outside but offered absolutely no relief from the sweltering heat. The incessant sound of hornets irritated the small group not so much for the sound, but for the fact that they could not see them. The sound seemed to come from all around the tiny apartment in the cramped backpackers. The cancelled hike into the country was what brought the eight English-speaking tourists into the room of the three Americans in the group. It was decided that they would make up for the lost hike by drinking beer and making fun of each other’s countries. The rest of the group was from Britain and South Africa.

The girls were all from South Africa; three students in their twenties had come out to Asia as a gift to themselves for doing well on their final exams. Natalie, Lucinda, and Uchell were beautiful leggy blondes with the telltale tans of a pampered life under the African sun. Luke and Ethan were brothers from North London. In their mid-twenties, they were tall, pale footballers on break from an intense training camp. Jabari, Bakeem, and Nate were three African Americans, college students in the graduate program at MIT. They too were taking a break from hectic college work and were rewarding themselves for a semester well spent. They also played college ball.

The girls sit around in tank tops and tiny shorts, their shoes discarded. The boys all wore board-shorts except for Bakeem, who has a piece of cloth wrapped around his waist, a style he’s held on to comfortably since Thailand. The guys were all shirtless. All of them have the physique of pro-athletes. The conversation is academic for the most part, until the beer and the cards come out. A few political jokes follow some serious debate, but this lasts only as long as it takes Jabari and Nate to get back with replenished stocks of beer and a few bottles of tequila.

It isn’t long before the game of cards is abandoned for reckless discussions about puberty, first sexual experiences, and current fantasies. The boys seem intrigued by the vivid descriptions the South Africans give of their fantasies, speaking in tandem as though they are
