    Dedication;

This story is dedicated to the only one that hung in there, D.T. Through all things, all times and situations you always believed in me. As different as we can be, our friendship always remained the same. Thanks bro, for being you and bringing your difference into my life.

    CHAPTER 1

Hey, where you at? I asked. I was already frustrated from the long drive and didn’t really want to be on the phone.

I’m in the house. In the living room, you here yet? he stated as if everything was fine.

Yeah, I’m parked outside right in front of your door. You ready? I questioned.

Yep, give me a second and I’ll be out, he sounded rushed.

Alright, let’s go man, come on! I wanted him to know I was ready to move.

I sat in the car and stretched my legs out under the dash. It was a long five hour drive and I was happy to have had finally made it here. I wasn’t so sure about how what we were about to do was going to turn out, but I had given my word to him, so I was committed to the ride. I leaned my chair back and went over my plan in my head. Step after step and everything seemed in line. If things would go the way I planned for the next two days, everything would work out just fine. I had my four hundred bucks and I was almost ready to be done with this adventure before it even started. He came out the door carrying a small piece of luggage and a computer bag. Down his few steps and up to my window, I rolled it down.

What’s up? You ready? I questioned him, because I had to.

Yeah, I’m more than ready, let’s take this ride! He was excited and showed a cheap smile.

    Where’s your car? I questioned.

I never knew what he would be driving, now that we got to see each other only every few years.

Right over there. You ready for a good time? He smiled big, because over-excited is how he always got.

I ignored his question and remained my normal calm, because I didn’t want to spoil his excitement.

I’m coming now, I took a deep breath, rolled up my window and got out my car.

Walking over to his’, he opened his trunk as I was opening mine. I pulled out my luggage and my laptop, shut the trunk, locked up my car and walked over to his. I put my things in his trunk, shut it and went and got in on the passenger side. He had gotten in the car already and as soon as I settled in the seat I looked over at him.

This is gonna be off the hook, man! He seemed to be attempting to maintain his cool, but I knew he was about to pop.

Okay, it’s going to be nice, I have to agree. I was most happy for him, more then for myself.

So, where we headed to now? He asked because I was the planner.

Let’s see, northern Virginia is first so head up north. We’ll find a hotel by the highway somewhere. I spoke with authority.

He pulled out the development that he lived in and pointed out a few highlights of the area as we drove by them. It was early April, so the weather was cool, bright and the sky was clear. We had small talk about what’s been going on in each other’s lives until we got on the highway.

So, I was looking on the net last night and it’s looking real good out here right now, you know? He was continuing his attempt at being calm.

Oh yeah, well I don’t get to excited until I see it for myself, I knew him and how he got all worked about something that wasn’t that exciting to me, so I would just remain calm until the situation changed.
