A bundle of white and brown fur with muddy paws launched himself into Kristi's lap where she sat under the shade of a tall oak, studying for an exam. At first she was stunned. But as the dog continued to make paw prints on the pages of her book and then put his paws on her shoulders and licked her face, she began to laugh. Who are you and where did you come from?

Wiggles is mine, a deep-baritone voice informed her. And it looks as if he's ruined you sweater. I'm so sorry. The tall, broad-shouldered ruggedly handsome man apologized as he bent to scoop Wiggles from her lap.

To Kristi's amazement, Wiggles calmed immediately and licked his master's face. It was a ruggedly handsome face with a strong jaw, a few crinkly lines around sea green eyes that were studying her now.

She jumped to her feet, her heart pounding faster. Oh, that's all right. It'll wash. She petted the small dog. He's adorable.

When Wiggles' master smiled, her stomach somersaulted and she realized she recognized him. Matt Cramer. He owned the coffee shop, JavaLand, just off campus. She often stopped in there with for a biscotti and a cappuccino before her first class.

He extended his hand to her. Matt Cramer.

When she let him clasp her hand in a gentle shake, she was even more aware of how good he looked in jeans, the breadth of his shoulders and the sparkle of curiosity in his green eyes. I know, she murmured. I stop in at your shop often. I'm Kristi. Kristi Jamison.
