Letters to a Hooker

A prostitute asks her clients to, in exchange for a discounted night, write her a letter about anything they want. The rest of the book is formed from these letters, with the hooker's story being told from the eyes and thoughts of her clients.

Here are the first sentences of the first ten letters:

"You could almost tell from looking at her that she was a lady of the night; those velvet blue sleeves, those carefully pinned broaches"

"Alice and Betty are a couple; we haven't told you that, but I am sure you may have guessed from the lightning sparks that appear every time they Alice and Betty look at each other."

"After tonight I'm killing myself."

"I love my job, I love my wife, and most of all, I love my kids"

"I'm twenty seven tomorrow, and I've never kissed a girl."

"You were at the street corner where I normally go shopping for the night."

"I once had a dream that I was Robin. Batman was flying in the air with me, which of course, I knew was wrong. "

"I'm a bit drunk at the moment, so, excuse the rambling."

"I was part of the original punk scene."

"Sometimes I hate my job. "
