8 This book of the law shall be on your lips, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may obey all that is written in it: then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

    Bible Verses

    Genesis 22

1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said to him, Abraham; and he said, Here am I. 2 And he said, Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you of. 3 And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go there; and we will worship, and come back to you. 6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took in his hand the fire and the knife; and they went both of them together. 7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering? 8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son: so they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of God called to him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not your hand upon the lad, neither do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

    Exodus 20

1 And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 You shall have no other gods before me. 4 You shall not make a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me, 6 and showing loving kindness to thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

7 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for God will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shall you labor, and do all your work; 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your man-servant, nor your maid-servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that
