About this ebook

For these two men, this record could be the soundtrack to their lives – if they’re willing to mix things up.

Meticulous and organized, air traffic controller Mike Larson has every reason to be wary of mixing his passion for music with love. When Mike’s hunt to complete his Top 100 of the ‘80s list brings him to Vintage Vinyl, a shock of guyliner, dyed hair and flamboyant personality rocks his orderly world. Can he risk a step outside his comfort zone for a chance with Leon?

Flamboyant Leon Sanders uses attitude to keep others at a distance, because he doesn’t believe in love or a lasting relationship. When he turns up the charm at his music store Vintage Vinyl, he makes the best sales. Something about the quiet man beckons Leon to give love a chance, but does he dare mix it up with Mike?

    Chapter One

You have really got to get your fetish under control. Josh Thomas stared at Mike. I mean, this is nuts. Do you need all these albums?

I do. Mike snorted. So he possessed over fifteen hundred vinyl records. Some people collected coasters, knickknacks, and other stuff. He loved his vintage albums.

This is the last box, right? Sam placed the cardboard box on the desk. No more in any crazy hidden places?

Nope. That’s the last one. Mike rubbed his hands together. All of his things, all in one place. Finally. Conning his friends, Josh and Sam, into helping had been a stroke of sheer genius. Thanks for doing this. I never could’ve hefted all those boxes.

No sweat. Josh rested his hands on his hips. You want help putting any of this away?

I’ve got it covered. He fought the urge to squirm. Allowing people to get close always ended in disaster. The moment they left, he’d be able to relax.

Let him go, Sam huffed. He bent over and rested his palms on his knees. I think I pulled something.

Want me to help you work it out? Josh rubbed his lover’s back.

Mike picked up one of his records and ran his fingers along the feathered edge. He liked his alone time, but he also wished he had a love like Josh and Sam shared. They understood each other with a vibrant passion. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d allowed his heart to get involved.

Well, here’s the other set of keys. Josh dangled the key ring from his index finger. The rent is due at the first of the month, seven-fifty, and you pay the utilities.

Perfect. Mike’s hand trembled as he took the ring. Thanks for this. I hated that apartment building. The duplex is nicer, and there’s a garage. I’ve always wanted a garage.

No problem. I loved having the garage when I still lived here. Made storage so much easier. Sam straightened. We’ve got a spare set of keys in case you lock yourself out. He twined his arm around Josh’s. Let’s go home to our bigger house that’s all ours and leave our tenant to play with his records.

See you at work on Thursday. Josh waved, and then he and his partner strolled through the front door.

Mike twisted the lock, and then headed for the bedroom. He plopped on the mattress and stared at the array of music around him. CDs, records, a couple of 8-tracks, and two mp3 players jam-packed with more tunes. He didn’t splurge much, but the albums were his life. One day he wanted a lover with whom he could share his collection. His heart beat faster and his palms itched. No, the last time he showed off his things, the guy broke into his apartment. He closed his eyes. What self-respecting guy was afraid of someone breaking in to take advantage of him? He was supposed to be a huge, macho, testosterone-charged male, not a pussy.

    Jesus.

He sat on the edge of the mattress and started with the boxes on the bed, placing each album in alphabetical piles around the floor. Out of habit, he arranged each of the alphabetical
