About this ebook

This book is a series of short children’s stories with a different letter of the Alphabet emphasized in each story. Some of the words are challenging and a glossary is at the end of each story with simple definitions. We don’t often give our children enough credit for their ability to learn difficult words. This is a fun way of building their vocabulary.

Alphabet Angel to the Rescue - Elisabeth Seiter

    Chapter 1

    Alphabet Angel A

    Abbey’s Amazing Angel

Abbey and Andy always argued, as brother and sister usually do. Every morning this week, amazing articles appeared in Abbey’s attic anonymously. Abbey could hear the thumping, as things rolled on the floor, above her room. An abacus, arrived on Monday, a stuffed cuddly aardvark on Tuesday, a bushel of apples on Wednesday, and a basket full of the letter A’s on Thursday. Abbey accused Andy of these antics.

Why would I want to do this to you Abbey? he said.

Abbey replied You know I have a homework project to do for school, and you are trying to distract me.

Didn’t I hear you asking for assistance a few days ago? Andy said.

Sooo, what if I did? said Abbey

Who were you talking to? asked Andy

None of your business, said Abbey.

It is my business if you are accusing me of doing something wrong! replied Andy.

With that answer Abbey looked at Andy and said, "OK, if you must know; I heard my friend Zephyr talking to Albert about an Angel that sometimes answers--you know (now whispering), prayer requests."

Thoughtfully, Andy analyzed what Abbey said and realized what occurred.

"Come with me Abbey. Look at all these things you found in the attic. They all start with the letter A, and what is your school project supposed to be on?" asked Andy.

Oh, good grief! Abbey exclaimed, "It’s supposed to be on the letter A. How could I have missed that?"

Abbey, I bet that was the Alphabet Angel answering your request for help, said Andy.

Abbey threw her arms around her brother and thanked him for helping her, and then she said, Thank-you Angel for helping me in my school assignment.

    Chapter 2

    Alphabet Angel B

    Alphabet Angel Strikes Again

Bragging Brian boasted about being the best at bowling. Brian bet Brad, that he could beat him at bowling. Just to make it interesting, I’ll buy you breakfast if you beat me, said Brian.

You’re on, said Brad. I’ll meet you at the Bowling Bonanza next Saturday.

Brian begged Barbara, Bobby, Bertha, and Buck to back him for moral support, but they made excuses for not being able to attend.

The bragging and boasting by Brian began days before the bowling. I am The Best, Brian babbled. Brian behaved like a bully which was why he didn’t have many friends.

Brad discovered it was Brian’s birthday and Brian couldn’t get people to come to his bowling party, which was why Brian came up with the idea of a bowling bet. The phone rang. It was Betty, Brian’s best, and only, friend.

Betty pleaded with Brad, You have to help me. Brian’s not that bad, he just doesn’t know how to make friends. Did you know he had to cancel his birthday party?

I didn’t know he had to cancel the party. We still have a bet on who can bowl the best, said Brad.

He couldn’t get anyone to come to the party, said Betty.

Well, he certainly goes about it the wrong way. Bullying people is not the way to get them to like you. Why don’t you come over so we can make plans? asked Brad.

Minutes later, Betty arrived. Brad bounced around ideas with Betty, and suddenly boomed out loud, Boy I could sure use an Angel to help me. As if by magic a balloon floated toward him.

Where did that come from? Betty screamed.

That’s it! shouted Brad. We’ll give Brian a birthday party. Together they brainstormed and came up with a beautiful plan. Betty baked Brian a birthday cake, and Brad beseeched his buddies to be there at the Bowling Bonanza, and to be nice to Brian.

The day finally came. Balloons appeared at the bowling alley with the letter B on them. When Brian came to bowl against Brad, he saw the balloons, birthday cake, and streamers. Brian blubbered and bawled, because no one had ever been nice to him before.

Thank-you, everyone, for coming, was all he could say, as he
