    About the Author

    THE HOBO GRAVEYARD

Then the train pulls away from the station, Peter said. And anyone riding in boxcar 1313 on the night of a full moon, never comes back. They go to the hobo graveyard to die.

And there's no way to get back once you've ridden that car, Bruce added.

Yeah right, Aaron challenged. If there's no way to get back, how does anyone know what waits at the end of the line. There wouldn't be anybody to come back and tell what it looks like.

One night an old man escaped, Peter said. No one knows how, but somehow he found his way back along the railroad tracks into town. He blurted out the story of the hobo graveyard just before he died.

Besides, Bruce added. All the hobos know about it. When they get tired of riding the rails and of life, they just wait for the next full moon and climb aboard boxcar 1313. The ghosts of the other hobos have told them about it.

A shiver ran up and down
