Chapter 1-20 English Poems
001-An Island in My Mind
There is an island far away,
away from all confusion
where solitude walks in silence
to the sweet rhythms of the ocean.
The frolicking waters sway and dance,
they woo the shores in a trance.
The soft-hearted breeze with gentle hands
caresses the shimmering sands.
In the twilight hour, sprinkled with gold
when the beautiful skies shine bright
a crimson sun, the blushing bride,
weds the dark and handsome night.
Here is a haven of beauty
a paradise without any strife
a resort so peaceful and serene
it is a celebration of life.
The angels are graceful.
They are sweet and kind
for I am blessed with this island
right here, ‘Inside My Mind.

002-The Pilgrim of Life
He sailed the seas, he flew the flights
He was sad and glad in darkness and light.
He scaled the skies of stardom and fame
He hummed and sang in pure delight.
He went to the moon and reached for Mars
If given a chance, he would walk among stars
Then came the day when he needed to rest,
he found a hotel called ‘Slumberlands.’
There as he lay in a cosy bed,
he began to make his future plans.
In the wee hours of dawn,
there was a knock on his door.
When he checked the clock
it was quarter to four.
A luminous aura filled the room
before he even reached the door.
He just stood still as his eyes moved around
along with the light that spread on the floor.
A gentle voice was speaking to him,
Come with me, let us go
Go where and why?
the pilgrim asked,
What do you mean, I do not know.
The voice was deep
it was very profound
As he heard the words
he also felt the sound
You were born
and entered the Hotel of Life
The length of your stay
is not yours to decide.
Whether you check in
Is something unsure
But once you do,
your check-out is sure.

003-Moments at the Seashore
My moments at the seashore
are cherished memories of mine.
It is an experience in elation
each and every time.
My eyes go surfing along the waves
as the frills of foam rise and fall
I am mesmerized, I am hypnotized,
by the lilting movement of it all.
Watching the waves bounce up and down,
to a steady rhythm without a pause
my spirit soars and I become
the playful child I was.
I hop, I jump around
I splash myself with water
I sing the song of ‘catch me if you can’
as the waves come chasing after.
There, just for a moment I close my eyes
for the sea seems slow and tame.
In that single instant my feet get wet
and the waves have won the game.
A pretty little girl watching the sea,
giggles with glee and claps her hands.
A cute little boy happy and free,
builds his castle in the sands.
A daring young man races forth
and takes a fearless leap.
He surges further on with fervour
eager to swim in the deep.
I can see the youth spin tales of love
their songs so romantic.
While old age takes a bow to retreat
into realms that are nostalgic.
A few steps ahead, there’s a cosy cove
where the shadows tease the stones.
A warm and loving breeze is humming
in sweet and soothing tones.
Like handcrafted bits of an ornate strand
the seashells please my heart
White as pearls or a colourful band
each one is a piece of art.
I see a seagull strutting on the shore
its head held high with pride.
Gazing at the sea it has come to adore
it seems to be sizing the tide.
Pensive pelicans perched on a rock
basking in the soft sunlight.
Still as the statues around my block
a vision in black and white.
Radiant faces and beaming smiles
honour the friendly sun
Cheerful children chirp with joy.
The mood is swinging with fun.
Away from all concerns and cares,
here is a heavenly retreat.
Woes and worries are far away
the salty air feels sweet.
The ocean’s beauty and allure
gladdens me to the core.
I thank you God for blessing us
with this sea and the sandy shore.

004-The Dewdrop and the Pearl
Dewdrops on roses
shining like pearls
liquid and lustrous
as another day unfurls.
A sparkling sky sends greetings
through glimmering golden rays
The damsel of dawn smiles with glee
in the warmth of sun’s embrace.
Scent of the blossoms casting a spell
In the magical moods of the morn
chimes in the distance ringing a bell
every moment a song is born.
The mystic mist floats through the trees
weaving a luminous design
invisible angels shower their grace
in this portrait of a scheme divine.
As the sunrise raises the curtains
a symphony strums the strings
the nightingale sings her songs
and the hummingbird swings its wings.
Here comes another day my friend,
here is one more chance
listen to the whispering wishes of yours
and awaken from your trance.
Seize these moments that knock on your door
rise and ride your dreams
to be what you want, to be what you can,
just swim in the destined schemes.
A humble beginning does not portend
a meagre or modest end
by the will of your mind
and sweat of your brow
you can reach the goal you intend.
The dewdrop looked at the pearl and said
"I can never hope to be what you are.
You were born into riches in the ocean’s bed.
You shine like a distant star."
The pearl replied with a gentle smile,
"There is something you seem to forget.
If you aspire with grit and fire
there is nothing that is hard to get.
So take that step and make that stride.
Believe that all will be well.
Born in a shell you may not be,
but you can be the pearl in a jewel."

005-Zest for Life
The spring of childhood is fragrant with flowers.
The summer of youth is sunlit and warm.
The autumn of mid-life holds pearls of wisdom.
The winter of old age has its own charm.
Looks may fade and strength may wilt
but the zest in spirit stays on.
For as long as you
