    Chapter 1

Molly awoke with a splitting headache.

This time, it was certainly no hangover. Molly felt old. She'd never had a cold or the flu come on so fast. But that had to be it: she was sick. She groaned as she pulled herself out of bed and stumbled for the bathroom.

    But this wasn't the flu.

Molly washed her face and looked up to meet her reflection in the mirror. What she saw made her cringe in horror. Molly looked as terrible as she felt. The laugh lines around her mouth stood out against the gray of her flesh. The hair on her head was a good many shades grayer, and the flesh of her throat was a good deal saggier than Molly ever remembered.

She wasn't sick. No. She'd aged ten years overnight.

Molly ran her fingers over her ancient face. How could it be? It was impossible! Perhaps she was still dreaming...Molly, staggered from the mirror and found her dressing gown. She flung open her bedroom door and charged into nearest bedroom, Kelly's, in search of a reality check.

The room was empty, the floor a jumble of discard sweats and dirty dishes, the bed a tangled mess of sheets.

Molly tried the next bedroom and the next, only to find each empty. Had she overslept again? No, she caught sight of the grandfather clock that stood at the zenith of the stairs. It was just a little past eight.

    Molly stormed downstairs.

But instead of a kitchen full of breakfasting girls, Molly was surprised to find her neighbors, Coco and Sophie, sipping coffee at the breakfast bar.

Morning, darling! Coco said, already bubbling over with personally. As Molly's bare feet pattered across the cold tile, she felt a momentary pang of guilt about the day before...Molly and Coco's husband, Ed...but obviously, in Coco's eyes, there was no ill-will. Here she was, drinking Molly's coffee. She'd even brought pastries. Rebbecca let us in. Oh, she's a dear. Hope you don't mind.

No, no... Molly shook her head, flustered. She cinched the sash of her dressing gown tight and pulled it closed around her breasts.

The perfect Coco and Sophie were perhaps the last people Molly wanted to meet looking so old and disheveled. Have you see any of my girls? Molly asked.

All gone! Sophie chimed in, breezily. Work and swimming and whatnot. They were an absolute tornado of activity, she laughed. I'm afraid they picked the danishes clean. she pointed to the empty pastry box on the counter.

Oh, that's okay, Molly dismissed, thinking a cup of coffee would be something to do with her hands. She walked over to the maker.

My dear, if you'll forgive me for saying so, you don't look well, Coco said, concerned, as Molly poured a cup of coffee from the urn.

    Oh, I'm alright.

No, sweetie, Sophie agreed. You don't look like yourself today.

No, Molly thought, I don't feel like myself, either.

Oh, I- Molly scrambled for an excuse. I didn't sleep well. But why was she making excuses? She touched the wrinkles of her face in concern. It was impossible. But- she stammered.

"You did get our welcome basket didn't you?" Sophie asked. Molly looked down at
