Steady with the Yeti - Mia Fox

The trustees of the biotech company I worked for were getting impatient. Their industry spies had reason to believe that a competing company was in the race to develop an infertility drug similar to the one we were trying to manufacturer. Whoever was able to complete trials first would have the best chance of selling it to the big pharmaceutical companies that kept this a billion dollar industry.
You can imagine how important it was to a male dominated firm to be the one on the market known for producing the best ‘swimmers.’ Developing this drug wasn’t just a matter of business, it was personal, it was ego, and I was the lone female in the midst of it.
As an anthropologist employed by MedSecs, they relied on me to test the waters with consumers and see if they were in favor of the drugs, how they reacted to the concepts behind them and most importantly, if I believed there would be any negative backlash among consumers.
I was working on a focus group study on how to improve the mental well-being of women who experience sexual dysfunction. Shame on me for being so surprised that the guys in charge deemed this a secondary tier
item in level of importance. I was yanked out of my project and my boss insisted I join Project Yeti,
our internal name for the sperm source of our miracle drug.
Accepting this transfer within the company wasn’t something that I had readily agreed to. I was much more interested in helping women with their sexual well-being, something I was deeply passionate about since I had been cursed with a bad sex life myself and a man with too many issues to count. Unfortunately, that man also happened to be my boss and the one who insisted I change projects.
