A Spiritual Approach to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
()
About this ebook
A true account of falling prey to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and achieving a complete recovery in seven years, after the author recognized his struggle with CFS as a spiritual crisis that would lead to a new way of life. The spiritual approach to CFS is offered not as a prescription or panacea, but as a new way of looking at a debilitating illness whose causes remain obscure, and for which there is virtually no effective treatment.

As a syndrome — or collection of symptoms and conditions — CFS is characterized by exceptional and prolonged exhaustion, unrefreshing sleep, various digestive impairments and other allergic reactions, and cognitive difficulties. It cannot yet be detected with a single medical test, nor are there any proven modes of successful treatment. Controversy continues over the medical origins and exact nature of CFS, making it not just a debilitating disease, but a political challenge as well. Victims of the illness who can barely function in their daily lives face the additional burden of getting medical professionals to take their condition seriously.
And even when doctors do respect the reality and profound impairment that CFS/ME represents, there is so far not much they can do for their patients. The San Francisco Chronicle reported on March 26, 2014, on a conference in San Francisco where Dr. Charles Lapp, who runs a CFS clinic in North Carolina, told the attendees, "We
