For me this book was a disappointment. It had a substantial plot but it felt like the author was trying to fulfill the word limit. Disjointed, hurried and jumping all over the place. 1/2 star from me.

Chapter One

On Tuesday, July 13th, Judy, the six-year-old daughter of Melanie Cotterwell, asked, Why is Jenny different, Mommy?

What do you mean, sweetie?

She's louder, and she sits in chairs different. She walks different. Stuff like that.

Melanie put a slice of chocolate cake in front of her daughter. First, she's in love and that affects the way she is. Second, she's married now. Married ladies spend time with their husbands. Up until they get married, they're mostly around other women. They act differently because men are different than women.

I think it's funny. She's always touching him.

She loves him.

Jenny Cotterwell came into the kitchen and gave a kiss and a hug to Judy. Your sister wants to play dress up dolls.

Judy ran off trailing the words, I want to be the princess this time.

Melanie gave Jenny a cup of hot chocolate. We've got to get more men in this household. It isn't good for girls to grow up without good men to love.

I did my part.

Yes, you did. I wish things looked better with Tom.

So do I

Melanie and Judy Cotterwell sat in the kitchen of their home in Victoria, British Columbia. They made up two of the five women and girls in the Cotterwell family. They added a man, three weeks earlier when Jenny Cotterwell married Jim Anderson and became Jenny Cotterwell Anderson. The Cotterwell's hadn't had a man around the house since their dad was killed in a logging accident six years earlier. Melanie had been alone with the girls since then and had raised all the daughters by herself. Their house was covered in doilies, needlepoint and knitted tea cozies.

The next morning, Jenny muttered, I love that man past all understanding as she watched her husband walk down Harbor street. She had to calm herself down. Jim looked so good it gave her flutters in her heart and more flutters lower down. She noticed his granite-hard rear end and remembered holding that butt in both hands as she urged him to go deeper inside her. She felt herself moisten at the memory.

She broke into a graceful run, trying to catch up. Jim headed straight toward a bar. She stopped moving. It wasn't a nice
