The Vampire Affair (Part Three) - Vivi Anna

    Chapter One

Jonathan nibbled on my chin and made his way over to my ear where he knew I liked to be licked.  As he stroked his tongue over my lobe, I could feel the tips of his fangs dragging across my skin. A delicious shiver rushed down my spine. Oh how I adored my vampire lover.

We’d been dating exclusively for the past year. It definitely wasn’t the easiest relationship I’d ever had, but it was turning out to be the best. I had fallen in love with him fairly quickly despite the fact that I had hated him when I first met him.

He had been a story when I first met him. A story that I was hoping would shoot me to journalism fame, but nothing ever really turns out the way it’s supposed to. Especially not when it came to love. And the fact that he was a vampire.

He whispered in my ear, I want you to meet my family.

And all the desire drained out of me in one explosive rush.

I pushed him back, sitting up on the ginormous bed in his lavishly decorated penthouse apartment in downtown Toronto, and frowned. Excuse me?

He rubbed a tendril of hair between his fingers and gave me that sly devilishly sexy look of his. I want to fly you to Ireland so you can meet my family.

    Why?

He sat up plumping one of the many pillows he owned behind his back. Because I think it’s time you met them. I met your mother.

I could hear the distaste in his voice and I slapped his arm. My mother is awesome.

If you say so, my darling.

So she called you Sparkles, I said, barely hiding my grin. She’s a huge Twilight fan. You should be flattered she didn’t freak out when I told her you were a vampire. I laughed. She’s a very accepting woman.

That’s not the word I would use to describe her, but there you go.

I pulled the blanket up to my chin and snuggled into the crook of his arm. My fingers trailed up and down the hard plane of his gloriously muscled chest. "Are all the members of your family vampires?"

The ones who are still alive, yes.

So your father’s illness is vampire related?

Yes, I guess you could say that. He has a rare blood disease that makes him age.  He’s over four hundred years old and is starting to look like it.

I’m so sorry.  I rubbed my hand over his chest. What about your mother?

My mother is alive and well and doesn’t look a day over forty although she is pushing four hundred and fifty. He pressed a kiss to my head.

It was still hard to process that Jonathan Devane, philanthropist, billionaire CEO of Devane Communications, was a 300 year old vampire.  Some days I would try and wrap my head around that.  Imagining him prancing around in a frilly shirt, short pants, long coat and top hat and walking stick riding a horse and driving in a carriage. I thought that would’ve been pretty sexy. I mean the man was unbelievably handsome. But then I’d think about all the inventions and technology like electricity and indoor plumbing that he lived without, and my mind would explode.

It sucks that your dad is so sick.

    Yes it does.

I wanted to ask if the disease could be inherited, but I refrained. I wasn’t sure I wanted to know information like that presently. I was already worrying about this trip that hadn’t happened yet, I didn’t want to start worrying that Jonathan was going to get sick and die on me. Although that didn’t seem likely. I was going to grow old and wrinkly before the man even gained another eye crinkle.

So, when were you thinking of taking this trip?

    Tomorrow.

I sat up and frowned at him. Excuse me? Tomorrow?

My jet is fueled and scheduled for takeoff at eleven a.m. We’ll arrive in Dublin six hours later, and check into the Merrion, which is the best hotel in Dublin and is also owned by my family.

Naturally. I frowned at him a little longer
