    Mowbray Brothers - Debbie Terranova

    Mowbray Brothers

    Short historical fiction

    by Debbie Terranova

Mowbray Brothers is about a world that no longer exists: an era of gaslight, rattling trams, Saturday night sing-songs, and a sand-bottomed river with a bathing enclosure on its edge. Inspiration came from stories told by the author's father about growing up in East Brisbane in the 1920s. The youngest of a large family, Lucky idolised his older brother Amos who – by all accounts – knew how to catch the biggest fish, swim the Australian crawl (freestyle), and take on a dare and win.

    Praise for Mowbray Brothers

Debbie’s writing is so descriptive and vivid. I felt more invested in these characters in the short time I knew them than a lot of characters in full novels. L.B.D.
