    Not far from Paris, on the banks of a small stream, there is a convent that sits in a small valley hidden away between the mountains. The nuns there spend their time praying or sewing clothing for the orphans in a nearby village. At its peak, it held about forty nuns. The church in the nearby village has parishioners from all over the valley and some from farther up into the mountains, and on a good Sunday the attendance there could be as many as two hundred people, including the good nuns.

    The priest there was rather old and nearing his final days, so the village had requested and been granted a new Abbé who had only recently arrived. This Abbé was a quite modest young man who had a natural ability to relate to people, and even the older parishioners considered him to be just short of a saint.
