Chapter One
To Begin With
My name is Tate Twilliger. I’m a ninth grader. I correct wrong doings done by school kids and you no doubt want to know why I chose to take on such a responsibility.
Grandpa is sixty-five. He grew up listening to radio programs and watching Republic Serials at movie theaters. He loved them so much, years later he bought them. And when I came along, he had a partner. Together we would watch a serial hero named Spy Smasher battle legions of despicable bad guys for twelve chapters, almost four hours of great excitement. Or we’d watch Nyoka the Jungle Girl making certain the African Jungle remained safe. We usually topped the evening off by listening carefully to radios The Lone Ranger as he captured outlaws. Grandpa usually had to wipe his eyes when he heard the Lone Ranger’s music, The William Tell Overture. But he wasn’t alone. I used a handkerchief, too.
