    The Vampire Cults Investigation

Moore, Moore and More, Investigations Book 1

    Dedication

To some of my fans who have written and told me they like a lighter and short story to read while in the bathroom. Of course, I read a short story in the bathroom and still love the authors.

    Prologue

Let’s do a quick little introduction. In the poorer section of Chicago, yet not where the crime is terrible, or the gangs hang out, there are some small businesses with their names roughly painted on the windows.

Among the little coffee shops and fresh fruit markets, there are comic book shops and slightly used clothes. A window might advertise Palm Reading, Books Cheap or finally Investigators.

This one reads in full the words MOORE, MOORE and MORE, INVESTIGATIONS.

The members of this small group are Tom Moore, a young lawyer who had successfully passed his bar exam and found being at the bottom of a big law firm was not fun. What was fun was getting his friend, Sandy out of trouble.

Then there was Sandy Moore, no relation to Tom. They had grown up together and spent one summer chasing ancestors only to find out that there was no connection between the Moores of England and the Moores of Switzerland, who had Americanized their name in the early nineteen hundreds. Sandy was the do everything girl in the office and got most of the jobs, deciding which ones were the right ones to take on for the investigative team.

Then there was the More of the team. Handsome and strong, seen only at night, Rain Decus. He was Sandy’s lover and a Vampire, but they tried to keep both bits of information secret.

Now you know the characters, but read the story to find how the firm was formed.

    Chapter One

Sandy had had her hands full of groceries and was struggling to get her keys out to punch and unlock her car when she saw him walk across the parking lot.

She stooped over and set the two bags on the ground, then looked through the windows and saw his dark form moving toward the buildings across the street.

Sandy stood back up, arguing with herself. If she were smart, she would open her car door, put in her groceries and drive home. Opening the door would turn on the interior lights and alert anyone around that there was someone here. She couldn’t just leave her things on the ground, but she so wanted to follow him. What was this obsession she had with him?

While she had this argument with herself, the whole situation resolved, as he seemed just to disappear. Well, that was that, she thought, and found her keys. She pushed the right button and opened the back door behind the driver’s seat to set her bags inside. Shaking, she got in the front seat and drove back to her small apartment.

She had tried to follow him a couple of times and soon
