Secret Romeo
I wrote poems for Will. To tell you the truth, I never knew I could write a poem. I’ve written some pretty kick ass grocery lists for my Mom, and I knocked together a get well card that made my little brother cry, but poetry? Forget about it!
See, I’m way more of a video game kind of guy. If there’s one class I’m awesome at, it’s science—or chemistry or biology, that sort of thing. I haven’t blown the school up or anything, but I could totally do it if I want to, just you wait and see. Back to poetry. Mr Tilbe, my English teacher, taught us a poetry unit, and I thought we were going to just sit there and listen to a bunch of blah-blah-bla- about the wind and the ocean and brilliant white light. Or that really sappy stuff. Know what I’m talking about?
But boy was I in for a surprise: he wanted us to write a poem.
Ourselves.
Gulp!
No need to say I felt totally screwed. Forget how I’d have to put down my X-Box controller long enough to really think about what I wanted to write. I’d have to grind my way through the agony of actually having to write the freaking thing.
Lucky me, huh?
English class was only bearable because Will Petrie was in it. Not only was he in the class, but he sat a desk over from me. Now, if you’ve never seen or heard of Will, you don’t know how hot a mamba jahamba he really is. I’d be happy to fill you in. I’d say Thomas Olsen is the only other kid at Fort Erie Secondary School who can match him in the hotness department.
Will isn’t just hot, although I definitely liked him for that. He’s tall, muscular, hunky, smart, usually wears his hat turned backwards and can be seen texting while he strolls the halls. He wears Abercrombie and Fitch everything because, well, he’s rich. His family money isn’t why I’m so sweet on him, though. It isn’t just because he’s drop dead gorgeous. It’s because he’s all of those things and yet he’s unbelievably nice.
Too many rich and gorgeous boys are what the French call Les Grandes Dickheads. They look down on
