    Donna Youngdahl

Gina's candor, her generous and loving nature, as well as her undeniable strength of character shine through every single page of this insightful recount of her own blended family's story. Her poetic style of writing pulls us in as readers and captures our hearts. For anyone whose family's story is anything but normal… and that would be most people in these modern times… this is a story of courage, of love, and of faith.

    Janique Hébert

"Blended families can be a challenge at best. Gina DeBrincat draws from her own life experience, from personal trials and triumphs of living and managing a blended family, to bring us a handbook of essentials to make this family dynamic work. Her spirited personality shines through each of her words and sentences. She has, with wit, wisdom and creativity, laid out a blueprint for a strong foundation on which to build a healthy and thriving blended family dynamic.

Sometimes the best way to find a solution to a challenge before us is to listen to the advice of someone who has walked the same or similar journey. If you are facing the challenges of a blended family, these pages will encourage and inspire you. It is a must read. Thank you, Gina, for opening your heart to us and sharing your journey with such generosity."

    Foreword

Sharing in Gina’s life and story through her writings has been enriching and very thought provoking.

Gina and I have been in and out of each other’s lives now for many years as sisters in Christ, but especially as friends… long before she was married. I read this book in one sitting. My first response was Oh Lord, I didn’t know. The impact of this overwhelmed me for a moment, even days after.

The Matrix of the Blended Family is not just for those who have had to deal with separation, divorces, and all the fragmentation of hearts and lives that it entails; it is for all of us. For those going through crisis and those walking with friends who are hurting—this book brings life and hope in a fresh and amazing way.

Gina shows us how something can break, seem to be totally lost, and the miracle of restoration that brings a ‘blending’ to a ‘bonding’ as only the Lord can do when He is given first place in the process.

This is a timely book and one to share with anyone who is touched by the tragedy of loss in marriage and family relationships.

    Introduction

The blended family was not my initial experience of the family. I grew up with my biological mother and father, four siblings, and a dog. We were a typical old-fashioned family who went to church, said grace before dinner, fought and argued yet loved each other deeply. Even though there may have been cause for divorce, the word was never spoken or even thought of as an experience that could take place in our family, and it did not.

It was me who introduced such a notion into my own personal family. I married a
