Robbery
In Florida, USA, two new gaming consoles were about to be released. The person who had developed them, a 16year-old called Aaron, was getting ready to count down to the official release of the games and make a short speech. He had stumbled upon how to make these consoles by accident, and there were only a few completed examples at the moment. More were being made, and they were soon due to be put on sale.
At the end of the speech Aaron would unveil the first new consoles before beginning the countdown to their official release. As he headed to collect the first two new consoles which were to be used, he heard a shuffling sound. He quickly ran inside to see what it was. He looked around and noticed that something was missing.
The new consoles - they had been stolen!
Aaron heard a chuckle and quickly whipped round. A burly man with a mask pulled over his face was standing in the doorway. A short man was standing beside him. The burly man let out another long, satisfied laugh. Then he pointed his gun at Aaron.
Get down,
he said. Now!
Aaron quickly obeyed, throwing himself flat on the floor.
Good. Now if you move or talk, I shoot, and if I shoot, the results aren’t going to be pretty. So I advise you listen to me and do whatever I say. Now stay there while we stuff our bags.
The two men quickly filled the bags with all of the games in the room and had soon cleared it.
There, we’re done.
He turned to the boy. Once we’ve left, you can call security. Call them as loud as you like, but they won’t catch us. Trust me!
Once he had finished talking, the burly man and the short man made a run for it. As soon as they were out of sight, Aaron got up and immediately started shouting, ‘Security!’
Two security men quickly rushed in, but they weren’t quick enough. Aaron told them which way the robbers had gone. However, by the time they had got there, the crooks had already escaped.
The young inventor was worried. Another robbery like this had happened recently. Some games had been stolen and the crooks had got away with game technology from the company, Crymsone, which was being used in the latest project. This had been a serious blow to Crymsone. There had been another robbery where the crooks had got away with the same sort of haul.
It seemed that the two crooks were targeting Crymsone. They were stealing money from the company as well. And another thief, probably more experienced, was also stealing from the boy’s company. If something wasn’t done soon, Aaron’s company would go broke.
Aaron decided he had better step up his game. He quickly dialed a number and was soon on the phone to one of the best detective agencies. Then he spoke to the head of SMF (Secret Management Force), Chief Johnson. After this he called the police. He was determined that something had to be done.
All around the SMF headquarters people were buzzing about, carrying papers and important documents. This latest investigation had become huge. People all around the world had heard about the delay of the releases and were getting worried. After hearing that the latest consoles had been stolen, comments were being made on the internet. People were furious that the consoles they had been waiting to buy had been stolen by crooks. They thought that if they commented on the internet it would make the guilty party ashamed and eventually reveal themselves. However, this plan didn’t seem to be working and it looked as if the criminals were going to get away with it.
After a call from Aaron, the SMF was determined to find out who had stolen the consoles, make them pay the price and return the stolen consoles and technology.
This was the plan of the Chief of the SMF, Kurt Johnson. He was highly respected and whatever he said, people would do. He had been a senior army officer, but once he had retired he had decided to join the Secret Management Force. Now, after seven years of working in the SMF, he had a lot of experience with criminals and how to catch them. He was thinking of setting a trap but wasn’t exactly sure what the bait would be. He didn’t know what the criminals wanted, or why they were stealing tech and games from the company.
Chief Johnson was thinking of sending some surveillance experts to investigate the criminals, but he knew it was too risky as they would be armed and there would probably be too many people to fight. What they needed was a smart, clever brain - a person who could take on any challenge and who was always ready for action. Someone like Captain America or Iron Man. But Chief Johnson knew he couldn’t just ask Captain America to come out of the comic books and help him. They needed a real hero. He didn’t need to have super powers, just guts and wits.
Where would they find someone like this? Johnson would probably have to search the entire force before he found what he was looking for. By then it would be too
