This notice, with a letter coming by stage and messenger to the Stewarts, brightened what had been a dull prospect. Seldom did a whole year’s work, capturing and corralling mustangs in the canyons and on the plateaus, pay them half as much as the reward offered for this one stallion. The last season had been a failure altogether. A string of pintos and mustangs, representing months of hazardous toil, had climbed out of a canyon corral and escaped to their old haunts. So on the strength of this opportunity the brothers packed and
