Have you ever heard of the Law of Attraction?

According to Wikipedia:

The law of attraction is the name given to the term that like attracts like and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results.[1][2][3][4] This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and the belief that like energy attracts like energy.[5] One example used by a proponent of the law of attraction is that if a person opened an envelope expecting to see a bill, then the law of attraction would confirm those thoughts and contain a bill when opened. A person who decided to instead expect a cheque might, under the same law, find a cheque instead of a bill.[6][7]

The Law of Attraction has been popularized in recent years by books and films such as The Secret.  This film and the subsequent book[19] use interviews with New Thought authors and speakers to explain the principles of the proposed metaphysical law that one can attract anything that one thinks about consistently.

I have watched The Secret and have also read many other books on the subject. There's just one thing that's off for me about the Law of Attraction to achieve success in life.  That is, too much focus on the self. 

For me, it's like saying, I'm the only equation in the success formula. That I'm the captain of my life, the Master of my soul. Everything depends on me, everything's about me, everything's for me.

The problem with that is we become microscopic - only focused on one tiny little thing, magnifying it out of proportion. 

What is that thing?
