D.C. Chagnon was born in a quiet little town in Tennessee, and this was also the place where her love for the romantic and exciting was born. The author remembers days spent running on hillsides and swimming in brooks, and endless hours spent reading books that were her escape from the mundane. It was on a fateful summer day when the teenager wrote her first romantic short story as a submission for a local paper’s contest. Signed under a pseudonym, her story that told of summer and the sun, of a friendship gone beyond its limits, and heart-aching tragedy, garnered praise and the first prize for the young story-teller. She was eighteen, and on that day, she decided that she wanted to write for the rest of her life. The author is happily enjoying the married life with her husband of five years and their two young children. She is an avid traveler and has sought every opportunity to tour places halfway across the globe. While at home, the author makes it a full-time commitment to be a mom, but also spends a lot of her time coming up with new story material. She is often heard saying how difficult it is to balance being a wholesome house mom while writing erotic fiction on the side. While she outwardly claims her inspirations to be the likes of renowned novelists Lisa Kleypas and Anne Rice, she does admit to being a fan of the more current works such as those of the Fifty Shades of Grey author and the Twilight series. On her off times, she can also be seen reading the more wholesome works by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

Samantha Walden awoke to the first rays of morning light shining on her face. Her auburn hair was tangled, and her emerald eyes felt gritty but her porcelain skin glowed with the happiness of a young woman in love. Her muscles were stiff and sore after having slept all night in the car. Still, she had never been happier than she was right then, snuggled in the arms of the man she loved, Mike Morrison.

They hadn’t intended to sleep all night in the car. They were about to leave the park and drive to Sam’s place but the passion they felt for one another cannot wait that they made love right inside the car. The date had started as a romantic picnic, when Mike had taken her to a secluded spot hidden behind a wall of dense shrubs and trees. He spread out a blanket on the soft grass and opened a picnic basket filled with delicious gourmet food he claimed to have made himself and a bottle of very expensive cabernet. She secretly wondered how he could afford such fine things on the meager salary he made working in the shipping department of Gideon Manufacturing. As the director of Human Resources she knew exactly what that position paid and it wasn’t enough for the designer clothes he wore, or the bouquets of exotic lilies he gave her, let alone a rare vintage wine. Still, she hated to ruin the romance of the moment, so she held her tongue silent.

As the evening wore on, and they lay on their picnic blanket, holding hands and looking up through the canopy of trees at the stars, she realized that in truth she knew very little about the man lying next to her. She knew that he was twenty-nine years old and incredibly handsome, with tanned blonde hair and gray-blue eyes the color of a stormy sea. She knew that he came from a privileged background and that one day he lost everything and was forced to get a job. So, an attorney named Peter Trevor referred him to meet with Sam, asking her to do him a favor and please give Mike an entry level job at the company she worked for, Gideon Manufacturing.
