About this ebook
Inspired by the 2012 London Olympics, the animals and birds are holding their own Jungle Games. The Cricketing event, excluded by the humans as an Olympic sport after 1900, has been revived for the Jungle Olympics by order of the Jungle King, Mr Lion, and the test match between the Royal Eleven and the Jungle Eleven is in progress. Mr Rhino, the Jungle team's hardest hitter, is on the verge of thumping his side to victory. Mr Lion, in his desperation to win, has asked Mr Monkey to bowl the last over despite his having a disabled arm. But fear not - the previously under-estimated Mr Monkey has a cunning plan to save the match and become a hero from zero.

A huge crowd had assembled in the forest. Mr Lion, Mr Elephant, Mr Bear, Mr Rhino the Rhinoceros, Mr Ram, Mr Goat, Mr Fox, Mrs. Cow, Mr Rabbit, Mr Turtle, Mr Ant, Mr Gorilla, Mr Owl…..every bird and animal was present. They were all there to watch the next event in the Jungle Olympics. The previous success of the 800 metre sprint and Wrestling Free Style had made them very thrilled.
Which Olympics event shall be the next?
roared Mr Lion, It should be as good as the events we had before - the 800 metre sprint and Wrestling Free Style.
OLYMPICS EVENT?
shouted Mr Wolf, What are you talking about?
Yes,
said Mr Bull, I was not available yesterday. What did happen here in the forest?
Oh!
shouted Mr Parrot, You missed the experience of a lifetime. You know we are holding the Jungle Olympics here in the forest!
JUNGLE OLYMPICS?
shouted Mr Wolf and Mr Bull together.
Yes!
replied Mr Parrot, All credit goes to Mr Goat. He suggested that we should hold our own Jungle Olympics, and everyone agreed to it. It started the day before yesterday with the 800 metre sprint event. Mr Lion is the self-appointed president of the Olympic committee, Mr Owl the judge, Mr Fox is in the organisation committee and Mr Bear looks after security matters.
Oh come on!
roared Mr Lion, We cannot stand here all day long. Which event shall we organise today?
The Cricket event,
yelled Mr Tortoise. Please register me as an umpire.
WONDERFUL!
shouted Mr Lion, But what is Cricket and is it included as an event in the World Olympics?
A hush fell over the crowd. No
