A Zombie Christmas (The Mike Beem Chronicles Book 1) by Anthony Renfro is a different type of zombie short story. I gave it almost four stars. It was a fun story to read if you overlook exploding heads with the resulting blood & brain splatter. Mike is on his roof for a zombie watch. He has his rifle & pistols ready. When a zombie picks up Rudolf from Mike's Christmas display, he's had enough so he shoots him & climbs down to straighten the display again. The first snow of the year started when he returned to the roof & started playing Christmas music. He asked Fred & Jim, both single men for help to go to the mall to get gifts for the neighborhood kids to give them hope. He had stored kerosene lanterns, food, chairs & weapons on the second floor. The gun-toting Santas were able to kill zombies & still deliver the toys to the children. I received a complimentary copy from Amazon. That did not change my opinion for this review. There are two bonus short stories included. One is A Vampire at Christmas & the other is The Dead of Winter.

This was a short story about the meaning of Christmas, but with a zombie twist. I really liked the writing style and the amount of action. The story had interesting characters despite the length and the overall message was good.
