Hidden Facts of Scriptures - Emmanuel Yalekhue

    INTRODUCTION

IN my early days in Christianity, I thought that every version of the Holy Bible, whether written in Old or Modern English would give the same interpretation. I soon realized that such a notion is wrong when I began to read different versions. For example, in Luke 23:43 of Authorized King James version states: And Jesus said unto him, verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Whereas the New World Translation version says: And he said to him: ‘Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise. The former is in the present tense while the latter is futuristic. Also, in 1 John 5:7-8 of Authorized King James version states: 7 for there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth; the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. In New Living Translation version (NLT), 2nd edition: 1 John 5:7 is deleted (-). However, in the New World Translation version, 1 John verse 7 is tailored to go with verse 8. It reads; 7 there are three witness bearers: 8 the spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

Later, I came to realize that different denominations and sects interpret the Scriptures to suit their beliefs and practices or rather, have made-up beliefs and practices as they have interpreted Scriptures. For example: The Jehovah Witnesses say that there is no hell fire but the grave. They believe God is love and not a wicked God to consume with fire what he created in his image and likeness. They ascribed Jesus’ story of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-25 as metaphorical illustration. The Grail Message movement analyzes the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib with science, stating that man and woman have equal numbers of ribs. She believes man should have less if such a doctrine is true. The Orthodox and the Pentecostal Christians believe that every saint who dies goes to heaven above to wait till resurrection and the sinners to hell which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints strongly kick against because she believes everyone who dies (whether a saint or sinner) goes to a place called Death to wait for the resurrection. Some of her members even boast that when they die they shall also evangelize in Death. Every denomination/sect believes strongly that she has the truth and her interpretation of every aspect of Scripture is the correct one.

This was the type of scenario that occurred when a Christian sister organized a weekly fellowship in her house. She invited neighbours and friends. Her Pastor was the leader and moderator. He gave room for everyone to participate in discussing any topic raised; not minding the person’s denominational point of view as long as there are scriptural backups as proofs of points that are advanced. Even at that, the house was heatedly divided and confused.

The scripture says For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:33) and, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:20-21).

Research has shown that most Christians (over 90%) do not read or study the Bible. Even those who study do so along the teachings of their denomination and thereby knowledge is restricted or lacking. To worsen the problem, some sect/denomination forbids their members to study other Christian literatures. If the truth must be discovered, everyone should stop defending denominational/sectarian beliefs because God is One. We must avoid the bigotries and have an open heart without fear to search the Scriptures in order to find out if what we hear in our denomination or elsewhere, or the Christian literatures we read are truth or look like truth (make believe) or part of the truth to deceive.

Jesus says Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life; (John 5:39).

Searching the Scriptures (Old and New Testament) is by comparing scripture with scripture: looking at things from God’s perspective because he inspired the writings; studying each aspect from different Bible versions considering time frame for prophesies and occurrences; and seeking God’s face with questions in prayer and fasting to resolve grey areas. This is what I have done and the results I have put in this book. I believe readers and Bible scholars will be amazed as I am (despite the fact that I have been a Bible Christian for over 30 years) because of the facts uncovered. They will discover scripture unveiling itself. That is: one part proving another to be right or giving a lead way to several parts to discover facts and thereby supposed lose ends are restored and unanswered theological questions resolved.

This book is written to validate Scripture (truths of the Holy Bible) and to help people have a clear understanding of the Holy Bible from its beginning to its end so that they will be able to appreciate any version. It is not to criticize or condemn any denomination/sect, but to make people see clearly, misconceptions, misinterpretations and assumptions, misguiding and taking the word of God for granted which has led astray many who hoped for eternal life.

God speaking through Prophet Isaiah says:

Therefore my people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge; and their honourable men are farmished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it (Isaiah 5:13-14).

However, no one ends up there if guided by scriptural truths delivered on proofs that cannot be denied or doubted even when weighed or tested by different parameters. I am fully convinced that the beautiful, strange and impressive things the Lord has shown to me which are in this book will certainly open the eyes of understanding of the readers. So, read on and be highly blessed.

NOTE: King James Bible Version has been chosen as main reference because other Bible versions consulted were found to have taken root from it (including those not put in Reference). Several Scriptural references have been intentionally used to prove every point. Highlighted areas in quotations and text are Author’s emphasis for better representation and quick reference. Scriptural references marked READ are for readers to look up in the Bible. It is to encourage them to use the Holy Bible.

CHAPTER 1: MAN’S CREATION AND PROBLEMS

The first 2 chapters of the first book of the Holy Bible called Genesis are dedicated to how God created the universe and especially the earth. We are told how man and other creatures were created from the dust of the earth. It was only the man God created in his image and likeness.

And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness… (Genesis1: 26a).

When the man was formed from the dust of the ground, it had no life until God breathed the breath of life into his nostrils and he became a LIVING SOUL (Genesis 2:7)¹. Then, He put him into a garden called Eden and commanded him to dress and keep it (Genesis 2:15)². He blessed him and made him the Lord of the earth (Genesis 1:28)³. He brought all other created creatures to him and the man gave names to all of them (Genesis 2:19)⁴.

While the beasts and fowls were created male and female, Adam the man was lacking a companion (Genesis 2:20)⁵. God made him to fall into a deep sleep, and He surgically removed one of his ribs. He closed up the flesh and turned the rib into a woman (Genesis 2:21-22)⁶. When the man woke up, God brought the woman to him. He was excited because she was taken out of him (Genesis 2:23)⁷. For this reason, God made a unique statement which became the bedrock for marriages.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis 2:24). Wherefore they are no more twine, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder (Matthew 19:6) Jesus added.

NOTE: (a) The space created by the removal of the rib can be likened to a child’s loss of first tooth which by nature grew back. For someone to expect the man to have less number of ribs than the woman is an error and undermining the power of God. (b) From Genesis (1:25, 27, 31)⁸, it is observed that Adam and his companion were created with other animals on the sixth day. However, they were not created the same time. The full day started at noon when the light came at creation to the next day noon and thereby making evening and morning inclusive. Adam could have been created before evening. The deep sleep God caused him to sleep could be at night being his first sleep. He woke up in the morning and saw the woman.

    ADAM’S TEMPTATION

In the Garden of Eden, there were two formidable trees planted by God at the center: the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God instructed Adam to eat from the fruit of every tree in the garden except from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He made it clear to him that it is not a consumable item and thus poisonous.

But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:17).

Adam’s wife was in a section of the garden when a beast of the field called the serpent approached her. It tempted her with the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. "2 And the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of every tree of the garden: 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:2-5).

When the woman was created, Adam must have told her of the instruction God gave to him because when the serpent came questioning the instruction she repeated what God told him but with a slight difference: neither shall ye touch it. However, the woman accepted the serpent’s view and this made her to see that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise (Genesis 3:6). She took from it and ate. She also gave to her husband (who might have seen nothing happening to her) and he then ate.

After the fruit might have digested, they noticed a drastic change of their living souls, And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons (Genesis 3:7).
