About this ebook

Rowen Smithe's two worlds collide when an old friend finds his hiding spot in Flagstaff. Surprisingly enough, it doesn't prove to be the end of him. His family at Mountain Shadows rallies around him, giving Rowen the first glimpse of hope he's had in over a dozen years. Hope and perhaps a future that might include a sexy curly-haired man with piercing blue eyes.

Learning Rowen's hard truths rips Mick Rutger's heart out. Mick wants to embrace Rowen, protect him so nothing and no one can ever hurt him again, and maybe use this breakthrough as a turning point for their tangle of a relationship.

All of that will have to be put on hold, though, when the surprise guests keep showing up...and not all of them are welcome.

I annoy, love, respect, scare, seduce, hurt, anger, infatuate, frustrate, flatter, envy, amuse and tolerate everyone. I just do it better in writing thanks to a little thing called...edits. Okay no, seriously...I'm a simple minded person who enjoys the escape from real life through a book. I write with the group Story Orgy and hope to continue doing so for a long time. I also am privileged to be with the Pulp Friction writers creating intermingling books in a world all our own. And just like every other red blooded human – I love hearing from people. So feel free to drop me a line – whether it's a comment on my blog, an email, a tweet or you track me down on FaceBook or Google + ... it's easy to catch someone who wants to be caught.

    Blown Chance

    Chapter One

Rowen crouched high in the tree on the other side of cabin three. He watched Ned take Wick's face in his hands for a gentle kiss before tugging him toward that ridiculously huge SUV, all the while the flippant trigger-happy man chatted to that voice…the one located on the other side of his ear piece. Wick had told Rowe that he understood about the voices in his head…was that how Wick stayed sane? He somehow turned his into a live man…the one they referred to as Banyu.

Ned and his lover had only visited for less than two days, but Wick was never without that small black contraption in his ear. He seemed to covet the voice, rather than despise it.

The vehicle drove off toward the exit of Mountain Shadows and away from the lodge. Obviously they weren't going to say good-bye, or maybe they already had. Ned had given Rowen a plain white business card with nothing but a preprinted black phone number on it. A precaution if Rowe ever needed him. He wasn't sure he'd ever use that number, but he was positive that things would be different for him from here on out.

He stood up on the limb he'd been crouched on, his hand resting on the trunk of the tree as he surveyed his home, Mountain Shadows.

    They all knew.

His sordid past was no longer a secret, or mystery, depending on whose point of view you were thinking of. The awful things he'd done in hopes of securing favor with what he thought was his family unit were taken from his internal vault and laid out on the proverbial table for all to see and judge. His first instinct encouraged him to run, start fresh somewhere else where people wouldn't be disgusted by him—or worse, afraid of him.

He wasn't a dangerous man, he knew his right from wrong. The people who lived here never had to fear him. They were his to protect.

But can a man protect people who hated him? Was there a future there?

Or did Rowen lose all hope of a future all those years ago when he’d been approached by
