Get Out of Debt and Stay Out - Forever! - Lyn Funnell
1988.
Warning!
Before you start reading this I must warn you that it’s not the usual pretty, pussy-footing, nannified, ‘let’s all skip around in a cornfield and make a wish and then we can have everything we want in life’ kind of book.
This isn’t an egotistical ‘Haven’t I done well?’ book about Moi with occasional corny quotes thrown in. It’s a book about YOU!
It’s an honest, hard-hitting, brutal and sometimes rude and insulting book. And if you read it carefully and take on board the things it tells you, it will improve your quality of life.
I’m not expecting you to follow the book exactly. I wouldn’t be that arrogant.
You should use it as a jump-start to get your own brain-cells working and to come up with your own ideas again.
Read it and think, Ooh yeah, that’s a good idea. And then supposing I...?
But if you can’t take being told the truth about yourself, and you have no intention of changing your way of life, don’t bloody well buy it then!
MY LIFE IS A COMPLETE MESS!
Do you feel as though you’ve got yourself into a downward-spiralling situation? Stuck in a quicksand and sinking fast?
Have you lost your job? Your business? Have you had a mucky divorce or a breakup of your relationship?
Have you lost all your savings, having to pay out on all your bills? Have you lost your house, or are you about to lose it? Has your flash car been repossessed? Are you being threatened by creditors and Collections Agencies?
Are you in debt, big-time?
Are you miserable and afraid of what tomorrow may bring?
Has your ‘Get Up and Go’ got up and gone?
Do you find it hard to get up in the morning and face another day?
Aah, diddums!
Now don’t get me wrong; this book won’t make you a Fast Fortune.
But it WILL stop you from drowning, and help you to swim ashore.
At first you’ll be swimming against the current, but you WILL get out of financial trouble if you follow the advice that I’m going to give you.
And if you train yourself to learn to live a different way of life RIGHT FROM DAY ONE, you’ll never get into financial trouble again. Then, who knows? Maybe the fortune will follow.
Debts
Most of us have debts. It’s the way of life in this country. It’s almost impossible to avoid them altogether. We owe tax to the Inland Revenue, National Insurance, rent, rates, the mortgage, water rates, electricity, gas, Council Tax, interest on our current account, car tax, car insurance, buildings and contents insurance, loans, and a few others that I’ve missed. In fact we’re actually encouraged to have them. All of them.
Scary isn’t it?
Banks, Building Societies, Stores and Supermarkets are offering us credit all the time. It makes them a fortune.
Adverts scream, ‘Buy buy buy me now! You don’t need loadsamoney! We can help you to pay in low instalments! Take a holiday! Buy a new car! Don’t dilly-dally! We’ve got a Special Offer!’
There’s nothing wrong with using your Credit Cards sometimes, as long as you’re confident that you have complete control of yourself and you pay the bill off quickly to avoid paying interest. But the trouble is, we’re all being offered far more money than we can afford to repay.
Because of course, we obviously have to pay back a lot more than we’ve borrowed! That’s how the banks and loan companies make their vast profits.
Don’t, don’t, don’t apply for a new Credit Card to pay off your debts!
If you can’t control your spending, take a pair of scissors and cut your cards into tiny pieces and bin them!
It’s very tempting to ‘Live now, Pay later.’ But sometimes it spirals out of control. You then have to, to quote another famous saying, ‘Rob Peter to pay Paul.’
One minute you’re perched on top of the huge, wobbly pyramid, (actually the point can be a bit painful!) and then suddenly everyone appears at the base and starts demanding their money and shaking the stones and before you know it, you’re sliding rapidly down the slope.
What can you do before you hit the bottom? How can you save yourself? Whatever you do, you’ve got to move fast!
You can’t afford to hesitate!
‘I’ll never get out of this mess! It’s impossible!’
Of course it’s not impossible! Everything’s possible. You’ve just got to adjust the way you live.
Three things will stop you from getting out of the
