Jesus in the Old Testament: An Introduction: Genesis to Malachi
()
About this ebook
If we read the Bible with the view 'How does this show me Jesus?' we will begin to see Christ in all its pages.... and as we meet Him there we will be transformed. (2 Cor 3:18). This introductory mini-book is the first of a series entitled 'Jesus in the Old Testament' and complements the teaching series of the same name. However it can be read on its own or used for small group study.
This mini-book uses 7 revelatory threads to help you to see Jesus in the Old Testament:
- hidden in the text
- by His teaching
- as God in visible form
- as part of the Trinity
- through the hopes of His family
- anticipated by prophecy
- by types and models.
Christen Forster is widely recognised as a fresh and original Bible teacher, who brings people into a love and confidence in scripture. In 2012 he felt prompted to start deliberately teaching on Jesus in both the Old and New Testaments in various formats and settings; to start consolidating and sharing the fruit of over a quarter of a century of research and revelation.
These notes are a first written resource in a process that hopes to further the discovery of Jesus as the foundation and fulfilment of God's communication into human history. In time this series of notes will expand to cover the whole Bible.
Christen Forster
Christen Forster is widely recognised as an original Bible teacher who brings people into a love of and confidence in scripture. The Son of Roger and Faith Forster, the first few years of Christen’s life where spent travelling between missions and Bible Schools across Europe until his parents planted the Ichthus Christian Fellowship in 1973.At the age of 15 Christen was diagnosed with an extensive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Christen was diagnosed on the first day of the Spring Harvest Easter conference in 1982. Given just months to live, tens of thousands of delegates prayed for him over Easter while his church elders went into the hospital to pray for him. The cancer disappeared over night and a special meeting of consultants was called to discuss his case. As a result doctors added this prayer to his medical records as an environmental factor in a case they could not explain.Christen has planted churches, been a youth worker, mission administrator and church leaders. The author of several books, Christen is now an itinerant minister, helping churches to step into a more deliberately spiritual experience of the Christian life while at the same time firmly rooting their practice in scripture. In 2012 he decided to start collating and organising over twenty years of personal research and study into the revelation of Jesus in the Bible for publication in various formats. The Jesus Centred Bible project is the fruit of this process.

A note about this electronic version
Thank you for downloading ‘Jesus in the Old Testament - An Introduction: Genesis to Malachi.’
This electronic version is ostensibly the same as the printed hardcopy mini-book. The information conveyed is the same, but the hardcopy version was conceived as a note-taking aid to be used in small groups and as part of live interactive presentations and teaching sessions. It had spaces to write in extra comments and the layout of the page was used to highlight information in ways that don’t work quite so well with this version, which will display text, tables and images according to user preferences.
‘The Jesus Centred Bible’ is a living project; it is growing and developing all the time. Whilst other ways of engaging with the material already exist and will continue to emerge, eg. books, seminars, talks, website, resource packs etc., the inspiration of ideas and the information at the heart of them all is the same as you will find here.
